About the Rita and John Canning Women's Program at Harper College
Since 1971, the Women's Program at Harper College has been providing important services to women in the community. Many of their clients are victims of domestic violence seeking to gain financial independence for themselves and their children. In this challenging economy, the program continues to see an increase in requests for education, personal support, career planning and job search resources.
"We are strong believers in empowering women to soar to great heights, both professionally and emotionally. For many women, Harper College makes this possible by providing affordable educational opportunities to those who otherwise might not have had the chance," states Rita Canning.
