Board Match Program

The Community Relations office identifies opportunities for Harper representation on area not-for-profit boards and advisory committees throughout the community. College representatives are matched strategically with these opportunities extending Harper’s presence in the community. As a result, an interactive network of relationships is built that mutually benefits the College and the community.

Campus Tours

The Community Relations office provides tours of Avanté, Center for Science, Health Careers and Emerging Technologies, the art collection and the Harper campus to community groups and organizations upon request.

Chamber Relations Program

Through the College’s Chamber Relations Program, Harper staff are identified and matched strategically to serve as official representatives of the College to each of the chambers of commerce or business associations where Harper has membership. Participation in area chambers affords a regular interface with the local business community through attendance at chamber events and participation on chamber boards and committees. The College’s chamber representatives act as goodwill ambassadors on behalf of Harper and provide the College with important feedback on community needs and perceptions.

Community Events and Sponsorships

The Community Relations office coordinates and manages the College’s sponsorship of and participation in community events and programs. Community sponsorships promote goodwill in the community and support a variety of worthy causes and programs.

Community Nights

Community Nights at Harper College are targeted meetings with community and business leaders from the individual municipalities within Harper’s district. These community outreach events help develop and nurture relationships with educational, business and public sector partners. Community Nights also enhance two-way communication between the College and the community by providing Harper timely information and insight into community needs.

No Excuses University Partnerships

Harper College partners with elementary schools within the College’s district under the No Excuses University Program. This national program aggressively promotes college readiness for every child, including those who are most at risk and face academic challenges due to socio-economic status and language barriers. Harper regularly hosts student fieldtrips as part of this program to help cultivate an early interest in college.

Speakers Bureau
