Marketing Services provides strategic direction for all of Harper's communication efforts.
This office is a steward of the Harper brand identity and manages the content of the College's official print publications, the main web site and key social media sites.
Marketing specialists strategize for all media - print publications, news, web, social media and video. They help you determine the best methods to meet your goals, stay within your budget and align with Harper's editorial style and graphic standards.
Graphic designers work closely with you and your marketing specialist to ensure that your project aligns with your vision, and adheres to the Harper College Identity Standards.
Mail Center staff collects and distributes campus and U.S. Post Office mail to the Palatine campus, the Harper Professional Center (HPC), Illinois Employment and Training Center (IETC), and the Northeast Center (NEC).
Please utilize the expertise of this office to ensure your mailings are cost efficient and meet U.S. Post Office regulations and/or non-profit restrictions. Learn more about Mail Center services.
All faculty, staff and trustee permanent name badges are designed to adhere to Harper College and Harper College Foundation identity standards. No order will be printed until you approve a name badge proof provided by vendor via email. Please allow two weeks to receive your badge after approving badge proof.
Steps to order a name badge:

Note in subject line: “Harper Name Badge” or “Harper Foundation Name Badge”
- Provide the following information in body of the email:
a) name(s) and title (optional) to be printed on badge(s)
b) your billing contact name, department to be billed, phone number contact information. (To make sure that the invoice and badges are sent direct to you.)
- Receive proof and estimated shipping cost/options from vendor via email. Review proof. Approve or provide edits to vendor via email.
- Complete Purchase Requisition. Each badge costs $12.50. Shipping varies based on number
of badges ordered and method of shipping.

For the most efficient service, branded promotional materials (e.g. pens, give-away items, t-shirts, etc.) may be purchased directly from selected vendors who understand the College’s graphic standards.
To ensure promo products meet identity standards, Marketing Services will have final review and approval of all promotional items purchased by the College. Final proof must be submitted to Marketing Services (email@example.com) by the vendor prior to printing.
Steps to order promotional items:
- Choose an item from a vendor listed below.
- Confirm pricing with vendor. You may secure pricing/options from more than one vendor.
a) You or the vendor may download a Harper logo that meets our graphic standards. If you are ordering plastic bags, custom artwork has already been designed for you and can be downloaded from the graphic standards web page.
b) If you need custom artwork, please select your product, confirm pricing, confirm vendor directions for submitting the artwork (including art size, file type and number of colors available, etc.) with the vendor. Please complete a Marketing Project Request form and provide all the above information/directions in the request. Marketing Services will provide you with the artwork meeting vendor specifications. You provide final artwork to the vendor.
Complete Purchase Requisition for your order and request that your name and department is shown on the invoice.

Official College photography is facilitated through this office. Completed assignments become part of the Harper College image archive, which is managed by Marketing Services. Older/historical images are archived by the Harper College Library.
Model Release Form
It is advisable to obtain a written release from any individual that would be recognized in a photograph or video. If the individual is a minor, parental or guardian consent is required.

Official College Accounts
Marketing Services and the Harper College News Bureau administer Harper's official accounts on various social media sites. This includes monitoring, measurement and reporting. View Harper's Social Media Hub.
Social media, like any relationship, is a commitment that takes both time and effort. However, instead of just tossing you into the deep end and expecting you to swim, Marketing Services would like to give you the opportunity to do some practicing in a "safe" environment and learn the ropes before you head out into open water. By following the three steps outlined in the Harper College Social Media Guidelines you'll be on your way to maximizing all that social media has to offer for your specific needs.
Harper College Social Media Guidelines
Submit content (i.e., posts, events, articles, photos, surveys, etc.) to your Marketing Specialist at least once a week. He/She will ensure that this content is broadcast via established Harper College social media channels and that your voice is heard by the thousands-and, sometimes, tens of thousands-of individuals who already "tune in" to Harper on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere. This is a great opportunity for you to establish your presence, gain visibility and benefit from the already established communities before branching off on your own.
Sustain this content submission frequency rate for a minimum of 2 months.
After two months, a Marketing Specialist will review your social media activity, what went well, what challenges you faced and whether your commitment to an independent social media presence is still strong or if other options should be explored.
Translation services are available for departments wishing to communicate in languages other than English through TransPerfect, a certified translation company.
If you wish to have text, copy or multimedia audio translated, your department will be given a cost estimate for approval. Once you approve budget and provide an account, a Marketing Specialist will work with TransPerfect to develop the final project.
Marketing Services manages the Harper College web site, goforward.harpercollege.edu, using a content management system (CMS). The site is designed for usability, is optimized for search engines, and complies with Section 508 accessibility standards.
If you work with an outside vendor to produce any official Harper communication materials it should be approved prior to publishing. Please contact a Marketing Specialist as early as possible in the project process to facilitate a creative review.
