Drive Sets Goal of 1,000 Donated Books

The Harper College Library is collecting new and gently used children's books through a drive aimed at providing 1,000 or more titles to elementary students in Palatine-based District 15.

More than 600 books already have been collected; the 19th annual Children's Book Drive runs through Wednesday, December 12.

"These elementary students are our future Harper students, and we want to remind them of the powerful connection between reading, learning, college and success," says Christine Kuffel of Harper's Library, who is overseeing the annual drive.

Community members can drop their donations in the Harper Library book collection bins located at the Algonquin Road and Euclid Avenue entrances to the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. Books also can be dropped off at the Harper Library in Building F or in division offices across the main campus.
