Brown bag lunch to spotlight sustainable gardening

Not all plants are created equal in their ability to support pollinators, insects, birds and local wildlife.
Harper College invites the community to come hear about what makes a plant native or invasive, the benefits of native plants and how to use them in landscaping during “Sustainable Gardening: The Benefits of Going Native.”
The free event, the second in Harper’s Munch for the Planet series of brown bag lunch and learn sessions, takes place from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the Avanté Center (Building X), Room X212, on the College’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
Questions will be welcome at the session, which is presented by the Master Gardeners of the University of Illinois Extension.
