One of the most difficult things about deployment is missing holiday celebrations
with family and friends.
With that in mind, Harper College’s One Book, One Harper community reading initiative – this year’s focus is veterans – is collecting the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast to send to troops deployed overseas.
Nonperishable donations for the Happy Troopsgiving drive will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 28, in the Library; Building D, Room D102; Building H, Room H130; and the Foglia Center, Room X250.
Suggested items include stuffing, cornbread and biscuit mixes, turkey jerky and cans of gravy, vegetables, cranberries and chicken broth, among other items. A card or handwritten note is also appreciated.
The Harper College Library-sponsored One Book, One Harper initiative features related programming and workshops throughout the year that are open to the entire community. Five selected titles explore topics including PTSD, military life, the home front, rehabilitation, racial prejudice and the transition to civilian life.
