Harper College had much to celebrate at the recent Toast of Schaumburg, the Schaumburg Business Association’s annual awards event.
The SBA named Harper its Brian H. Burke Business of the Year – the top honor of the night – while President Dr. Ken Ender received the organization’s leadership award.
Burke, founding chairman of the board at SBA, pointed to Harper’s longtime partnership with the business group. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the SBA works to advance business causes and help its 700-plus members maintain a competitive edge through programs, benefits and services.
The College works to forge partnerships with Schaumburg businesses such as the insurance apprenticeship program with Zurich North America. Dr. Ender has served as a keynote speaker for several SBA events, most recently giving a presentation on the Promise Scholarship Program to the Good Morning Schaumburg networking group. And the Harper Professional Center is located in Schaumburg.
Several Harper representatives took the stage at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel to accept the Business of the Year award including Dr. Ender, Harper Board Chairman Greg Dowell and Trustees Bill Kelley and Walt Mundt.
Dr. Ender also made a point to acknowledge former Harper Trustee Laurie Stone, who served as SBA’s founding president until 2010.
