Inspired Mentoring

Learn from artist faculty with real-world experience.

Pursue your future in music.

Recognized as having one of America's foremost music programs among two-year institutions of higher learning, Harper College is an accredited community college member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), offering professional training and a tradition of academic excellence. Harper College’s Music Department provides a wide variety of exceptional musical opportunities, for academic credit and at affordable cost, to all members of our community who wish to participate in music, whether for personal enrichment, or as working professionals, and whether as performers (both as soloists, and in ensembles), scholars, or audience members.

Students can pursue degrees, transfer programs and private study in a challenging but comfortable environment that provides all the tools for success:

  • a strong curriculum that builds students' skills and confidence
  • exceptional solo and ensemble performance opportunities include piano, guitar, vocal and jazz ensembles, as well as symphonies and vocal groups.
  • mentoring by faculty of more than 50 professional artists and scholars with real-world experience that includes performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Edgar Gabriel's StringFusion and the Grant Park Orchestra.

We welcome students of all skill levels to our suburban community, just northwest of downtown Chicago, where an array of musical venues offer concerts in every genre.

All music students must apply for admission to the College, and auditions are required for enrollment in a music degree program. Come visit our campus, meet faculty, sit in on a class and find your path forward in music.
