Substitute Teacher

Substitute TeacherStep into the classroom for flexible and rewarding work.

For newly certified teachers, those returning to the classroom after time off, and anyone interested in exploring a career in teaching, the Substitute Teacher Digital Badge will help you prepare for the Illinois Substitute Teacher Type 39 Certificate. School districts need good substitute teachers to provide continuity during the absence of a regular teacher. This 12-hour interactive workshop is designed to prepare you for the very first day you enter the classroom as a substitute teacher. Learn what administrators, teachers and students expect from an effective substitute for K-12. Build your confidence by learning and practicing the necessary skills to be an effective substitute teacher including rapport building, classroom management and teaching strategies. Newly certified teachers and those returning to the classroom after time off are welcome.
