Pharmacy Technicians are in High Demand
Employment as a pharmacy technician is expected to increase much faster than in many occupations. The 50-hour Pharmacy Technician Digital Badge program will prepare you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam, required in the state of Illinois within two years of becoming employed as a technician. As a technician, you can work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies or other health care settings. Learn the medical terminology specific to pharmacies as well as how to read and interpret prescriptions and define drugs by generic and brand names. Learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (LAH 8010): This 50-hour course prepares you to work under a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies, or other healthcare settings. Learn medical/pharmacy terminology, dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing prescriptions, inventory control, billing, and reimbursement. Prepares you for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Textbook and materials included. Approved for funding by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for qualified WIOA candidates, under O*Net code 29.2052.
