Campus Construction

Master Plan Construction: Building D Addition and Renovation

Site work has started in earnest and will be very noisy at times. This stage of the construction project involves removing sidewalks, digging up and installing sewers and other activities.

  • The east end of Building D is fenced off and 4 exit doors are closed.
  • Lake Drive is accessible and ADA parking spaces are available on the north side of Building D.

Please be safe: Do not walk on the ring road (Kris Howard Blvd) to get from Lot 7 to Building D. Use the detour through Building I or park in Lot 8 and use the sidewalk by the Observatory. Detour signage is provided.

Watch for trucks entering from the Construction Access Road at the intersection of the Inner Ring Road and Kris Howard Blvd.

See Map PDF.

For details about this project, please see the Building D page of our Construction Updates.

Project Overview

The project will provide two new lecture halls and a student commons area, as well as house the mechanical systems for the east end of campus. This addition to the east end of Building D will be completed by end of year 2014.

Over the next several years, the east end of campus will be transformed and revitalized with the construction of the New Engineering and Technology Center in the former Buildings G & H and the addition and complete renovation of Building D.

Building D is being designed to meet LEED Silver Certification and will provide:

  • State-of-the-art classrooms and lecture halls
  • Improved accessibility
  • Enclosed access to the New Engineering and Technology Center
