2009 Season Recap2009 saw Head Coach Eric Waldstein take over the helm of the Harper College football team and, while the journey was rough, Coach Waldstein looks for the positives in a team that finished the year with a 2-7 record. Despite the record, the Hawks did manage to make it into the Regional Semi-Finals where they unfortunately fell to Grand Rapids Community College. "I'm proud of the way that these guys never stopped playing hard in every game," says Waldstein, "they fought to the last second." "As a coaching staff, we were able to establish discipline and set expectations for the growth of future football teams at Harper," says Waldstein. "We want our players to maintain the discipline to bring excellence to everything they do - from the class room, to the weight room, on and off the field, and into the community." With 45 players expected to return next season, Coach Waldstein belives that things can turn around quickly for his team. "We have a talented group of kids with a solid work ethic and great leadership - we can be primed to do something positive," adds Waldstein. "We'll work to keep them focused in the classroom and on their off-season workouts; and that includes going to Spring practices for the first time here at Harper."
