Honors Program
Enriched Curriculum for High Achievers
We seek to stimulate, encourage and recognize work of depth, scope and originality. Get the benefit of reduced class size and the challenge of social and intellectual interaction ith other high achievers.
How to Apply to the Honors Program
To participate in the Honors Program and register for Honors coursework, you must complete this application, including a short autobiographical essay and, upon acceptance, secure an override from the coordinator of the Honors Program.
Students accepted for Harper College's Honors course work must meet at least two of the following criteria:
- Be in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or 4.5 on a 5.0 scale
- Have an ACT composite score of 25 or higher on an SAT combined score of 113 or higher
- Have a Harper grade point average of 3.5 with at least 12 hours of college level courses at the 101 level or above for current Harper students
- Have written letters of recommendation from two Harper instructors
- Have written consent from the coordinator of the Honors Program. Call for an appointment to interview for written consent from the Honors coordinator if you meet only one of the criteria above.

Curriculum An Honors Program member is not required to take Honors courses; however, to graduate with Honors Program Distinction, students must:
- Complete 12 or more hours in the Honors Program
- Take HUM/HST 105 (the Honors Colloquium)
- Complete all other requirements for an A.A. or A.S. degree
- Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 of higher
