How to Take CLEP Tests for Harper College Credit
Harper College is a National Test Center for the College Level Examination Program. Harper College is an open test site, but we accept only a select number of CLEP tests. Please read the following information carefully before applying to take CLEP examinations.
- CLEP testing is offered every Wednesday by appointment only (limited seating) by contacting the test center at 847.925.6541. Check-in time is between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Each test is 90 minutes and a maximum of two tests per session is allowed.
- A Registration form must be submitted the day of testing. You can download a CLEP registration form from www.collegeboard.org/clep OR fill one out in the test center the day of testing.
- Along with your registration form you must remit $15 to Harper College for each CLEP test taken and a payment of $77 ($80 effective July 1, 2012)to CLEP for each test taken. CLEP prefers payment be made by credit card at time of testing but will accept a personal check.
Upon completion of testing, students will receive an unofficial score report. An official score report will be sent approximately 2 weeks after testing to the student's selected score recipient. CLEP exams may be retaken after six months by following the registration procedure again.
HARPER STUDENTS, PLEASE NOTE: CLEP credit is posted on the student’s permanent record but does not appear on the end-of-semester grade report. A student who passes a CLEP examination is given ungraded credit for the course listed as equivalent to the examination. Credit is not posted if it duplicates credit already awarded. No official record is made of failures on CLEP examinations. CLEP exams (whether passed or not) do not affect a student’s grade point average.
