New Full-time Student Assessment Requirement
All new full-time students (those intending to enroll in 12 credit hours or more) are required to meet the College's assessment requirement prior to registration. In some cases, ACT scores and previous college credit can be used to waive the assessment requirement.
Please contact the Assessment Center (Room A148, 847.925.6541) or the Center for New Students (Room C104, 847.925.6208) for more details about waiving assessment tests.
New Full-time Students
All new full-time students (12 credit hours or more) are required to attend Orientation. Orientation has two steps:
Step 1: Compass Placement Testing
Step 2: Advising and Registration
During Orientation, meet individually with an advisor to discuss course selection and learn more about campus services and programs. Take this opportunity to ask your advisor questions about your future career or transfer goals and learn how to register for your courses. To get an overview of the Orientation and Registration process view this short presentation.
New Part-time Student Orientation
It is recommended that all new part-time students (less than 12 credit hours) attend Orientation. Testing may be required in order for you to satisfy a pre-requisite for a course (e.g., English, Reading or Mathematics course).
Parents of New Harper Students
Parent Orientation Sessions are held in the late spring and early summer. Visit the Parent's Guide to Harper for more details.
