Harper College

Fall Semester - It's Here

Dr. Vicki Atkinson photoIf you are a parent of a new student at Harper, I bet you have some questions about these important 'getting started' topics.  Take a look at these common questions that most parents have and let us know how we can assist.

My student is late!  Can he/she still enroll?  Absolutely!  The regular 16-week semester begins on August 21 and there's still time to take care of everything that needs to be done.  If your student hasn't applied yet, that should be done immediately. Already applied?  Then it’s time to talk to Admissions Outreach at 847-925-6700 to confirm that all of the application info is accurate -- and make a plan for placement testing (which needs to be done before Orientation, which includes advising and registration.

What about payment and financial aid? We understand that many students and family members have questions about the cost of enrolling, payment options, and using financial aid. The One Stop welcomes students to come by A-250 with their parents and/or family members to discuss these topics and can provide help applying for financial aid and scholarships.

Help!  My student needs to make changes to his/her schedule.  No problem.  Contact us in the Center for New Students at 847-925-6208 and we are on it - students often make adjustments, so no worries.  If the adjustment is just time-related, a visit to the One Stop in A-250 for registration assistance might be all that's needed.

Can Harper help me, too?  Of course. While we are 100% invested in helping your student, we also specialize in supporting adult learners who are either re-careering or are interested in using credit earned previously toward a new credential.
