Nellie Khalil is a faculty member in the Biology Department and the Director of the Office of International Education at Harper College. She earned her master’s degree in Biology at Case Western Reserve University studying fragmented forested ecosystems. She enjoys teaching her students about evolution, ecology, and in particular, the amazing hidden biology of plants. In addition to advancing internationalization efforts at Harper through study abroad, virtual exchange, and faculty professional development she is also interested in highlighting global issues in her courses, including biodiversity decline and the spread of pathogens.

Angelica has been serving Harper students in different departments since 2016, and in 2022, she joined the Office of International Education as a Program Specialist. She is passionate about International Education, having worked for many years as a Student Advisor in ESL schools and exchange program agencies, and earning her EdM in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with a concentration in Global Studies at UIUC. In addition to advising Harper students and supporting internationalization efforts on campus, she is a co-advisor for the International Students Club and has been trying to learn ASL.
