I enrolled at Harper College after leaving a 4-year university. Changing my focus from engineering to business, I started the Business Administration track in the summer of 2013. During the spring of 2014, I enrolled in a marketing internship course with Professor Robin James where I studied social media, event management/promotion, and public relations.
The experience I had motivated me to start my own business in June 2014, Ruben Digital Media. From then until I graduated in Dec 2015, I was able to utilize Harper Business classes to build and grow my business. Today, I employ my mom and my sister, another Harper alum who graduated in December 2016. We have served over 30 clients in two years, have trained two interns, and are opening up an intern search now looking for four new team members.
I am grateful for my experience in the Harper Business simulation with Professors Jamie Nolan and J.T. White. The collaborative nature of the class really helped create an environment of multi-functional units. I could not be more proud to be a Harper Hawk alum, and one day, when people type Harper College into Google, I would like to be one of the people that appears in "notable alumni”.
